Dr. David Fyfe
Dr. Fyfe’s anaesthetic training was based at the John Hunter Hospital, a large tertiary referral hospital offering all major surgical specialties, a large 800 bed facility and NSW’s busiest trauma centre. Dr. Fyfe also completed a year of Intensive Care, providing valuable experience in looking after the most acutely unwell patients. During his training he also developed an interest in regional anaesthesia and point of care ultrasonography, completing a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound.
Towards the end of his training, Dr. Fyfe became a Simulation fellow, teaching courses in the Hunter New England Simulation Centre using high fidelity simulation. These courses provide valuable crisis and focus on team work and resource management. He then went on to do a further Cardiothoracic Fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney – a large hospital at the forefront of new medical procedures, where he gained experience in transthoracic and transoesophageal ultrasound.
Dr. Fyfe provides high quality anaesthetic care with a patient centred approach and a focus on teamwork. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and complies with all continuing professional development requirements. Dr. Fyfe is skilled in regional anaesthetic techniques, and his cardiac anaesthetic training has equipped him to care for patients with complex medical conditions. He enjoys providing anaesthesia for a diverse range of surgical specialties, and makes sure to keep his skills up to date.
His other interests include a love of the outdoors, both on land and in the ocean. He is a keen scuba diver, has hiked to Everest Base Camp, and enjoys travelling to far-flung areas to watch exotic animals in the wild.
