Dr. Haydn Sawtell
Dr. Haydn Sawtell is a Specialist Anaesthetist committed to providing safe, tailored, and evidence-based anaesthetic care across a broad range of surgical specialties. He is known for his calm, reassuring approach and a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and communication.
Haydn holds a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci) with Distinction and a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and completed his specialist training at leading teaching hospitals across New South Wales.
He has also completed subspecialty training in Regional Anaesthesia at the esteemed Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada – one of North America's leading institutions for advanced anaesthetic training. This experience further developed his expertise in ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and regional techniques to optimise surgical outcomes and reduce opioid use.
In addition to his clinical work, Haydn has a strong passion for teaching and is actively involved in the education and mentoring of medical students, junior doctors, and anaesthesia trainees. He is committed to fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the clinical environment.
Outside of medicine, Haydn leads an active lifestyle and enjoys surfing, swimming, hiking, and cooking. These interests help him maintain a balanced and grounded approach to his professional life.
