Dr. Libby Freihaut
Dr. Libby Freihaut is a specialist anaesthetist who completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Newcastle. Following their initial studies, she undertook anaesthetic training throughout the Hunter New England network, gaining clinical experience in Lismore, Port Macquarie, and Gosford.
After completing her specialist training, Dr. Freihaut spent four years practising in Darwin and Hobart before returning to settle in Newcastle. She has developed a significant interest in providing medical care and education in less well-resourced areas, which has included teaching at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji and performing clinical work in East Timor, Indonesia, and Tuvalu.
Currently based in Newcastle, Dr. Freihaut works between the public and private sector, and is proficient across a broad range of anaesthetic sub-specialties. She has a particular interest in paediatric anaesthesia, anaesthesia for head and neck surgery, and colorectal surgery.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Freihaut enjoys bush-walking, ocean swimming, and spending time in the garden.
