Having grown up in London, Dr. Pragya Ajitsaria originally completed her medical training at Bristol University, UK and moved to Australia as a junior doctor where she proceeded to undertake her anaesthetic specialist training in Newcastle with a brief foray to The Royal Darwin Hospital in the Northern Territory.
She now serves as a Senior Staff Specialist at the John Hunter Hospital, holds VMO positions at various private hospitals across the Hunter, and holds academic and research positions with the University of Newcastle and Hunter Medical Research Institute that support her interests in education, research and the development and practice of evidence-based medicine. Dr. Ajitsaria works across a range of surgical specialties and has a special interest in how we support patients through considering and preparing for an operation.
Outside of work, Pragya can be found out for a run, down at nippers, or enjoying good food with family and friends.
