Dr. Rheily Ward
Dr. Rheily Ward is a specialist anaesthetist and Fellow of the Australian College of Anaesthetists, practicing in the Newcastle region. Dr. Ward grew up in the Riverina area before completing undergraduate medical training at University of Newcastle with distinction.
Dr. Ward then commenced postgraduate training and anaesthesia specialty training within the Hunter New England Health network, working across Newcastle, Maitland, Gosford and Tamworth hospitals. During this time, she completed a Masters in Critical Care Medicine through Sydney University and following her love for education, became one of the youngest ever instructors at the Hunter New England Simulation Centre.
Dr. Ward later spent 2 years in Perth, where she worked as both a fellow and consultant anaesthetist at the major trauma centre, Royal Perth Hospital and the women’s hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital. She undertook further training in point-of-care echocardiography and advanced simulation training.
Since then, Dr. Ward has returned to Newcastle and shares her work time between John Hunter Hospital and a range of private hospitals. She has interests in obstetrics, women’s health, regional anaesthesia and neurosurgery, as well as education and training of junior doctors.
When not at work you can find her hiking and camping in the great outdoors or wrangling her two very energetic boys.
